i have bought quite a few, new and older releases.. so here we go
the ataris - so long astoria, i think this cd was pretty boring, it all sounds the same to me, i was looking for more of a pop punk sound but didnt get it.
taking back sunday - where you want to be, i like this cd, i think all the songs have a different story and i dont get bored listening to the cd.
atreyu - the curse, good blend of hardcore and emo, i found a couple of the songs a bit boring.
the used - in love and death, this cds pretty good, some of the slow songs are a bit crap, i liked the art work in the cd cover.
new found glory - sticks and stones, i felt like some pop punk and it did the job, good for a sing along.
gyroscope - sound shattering sound, the art work is shit, the cd is pretty decent, parts are a bit boring.
rise against - siren songs of the counter culture, fucking awesome cd, good melodic hardcore sound.
senses fail - let it enfold you, very decent cd, i wasnt sure i would like it, love it.
something with numbers - etiquette, gets a bit repetive but overall not a bad cd.

i like a few of the songs, i dont know the titles, but yeh it was a bit of a let down, i thought it would of been a little bit harder and faster, i wouldnt call it shit though.

everyone go by the Tremors, Cash Up Front, No Kissing.
It's really really good. It makes me want to buy stuff by Six Ft Hick. I think i'll do that...
And Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros, Streetcore- if you like Joe Strummer in the slightest, then i think you'll like this. Listening to it makes me a bit sad though... since there won't be any more releases. I can always delve into his past though.

not to defend the ued or anything, but i think the reason that they made such a mellow record is because bert (thesinger) absolutely fucked up his voice when he was screaming, and he'd like vomit at shows when he screamed or soemthing (i read in an interview)... and thats why his screamy bits are a bit different, i think he's trying to not kill his voice box.... but thats no excuse... however...

Wicked cd, has their best song imo on it, waterwings. probably the only harcore band i like, and some of their stuff on this album is a bit new to me so it'll be a while to ike this one as much as their new one.

Cd of the fucking year! Every song is wicked, and they have made it so it's not just non stop screaming and there is still brilliant songs. "Accidents", "Side walk when she walks", "Hey, it's your funeral mama", and "white devil" are favourties off this album, but there isn't any bad song i don't think.

But seriously.This poses a question i have often pondered, screaming savagely is all well and good now, but what does the future hold for such singers? especially those in hardcore bands and such who do nothing but scream there little voicebox's off. You think any permanent damge is done? It certainly cant be good for ones vocal chords. well anywhoo i have silverstein album in at the moment. I got hooked on them after listening to the sampler that came with the taking back sunday albumn. I will let you all know how the album is. |

i only jsut started listening to the used and i dont really mind their new cd. I dunno not bad. One thing i dont like about the band is how they use screaming the way they do. I mean some bands can do it, i dont mind screaming if done in the right way (Rise Against, Funeral For a Friend) but it seems the used just use screaming for the sake of screaming which really is just crap. I like screaming that flows with the song and is actually used to convey emotion of a word of phrase within normal sung lyrics rather than a whole verse or chorus at the end of the song.
