ok then i was thinking 2 myself u lot seem to be an artsy enterprising bunch so i was wondering how i would go about making a stencil taht i could use 2 spraypaint stuff(liek band names and stuff) onto shirts and stuff coz like i thought 2 myself y pay 30 bucks for a band tshirt when i can buy a black tshirtt from crazy clarks 4 6 bucks and soem spraypaint and make a t shirt ok i know taht when u buy a tshirt u support the band who's tshirt it is but wat are thjose of us taht dont have 30 bucks 2 spare to do so yeah if u coudl just give us an idea i woudl be very thankful

u can generally just cut it out of paper or card with a craft knife, screen printing works aswell.

If you're going to be using spray paint, I'd use a hard plastic stencil, or cut up and old rubber placemat or something, if you have paper or rubber, you've a chance the paint will bleed through the stencil on to the shirt.
Another option is, buy your shirt, find an image you like, and take it to curtin uni, they will print any image on to any shirt for $15 I think it is. Digital or hard copy. I know that might be a bit hard for some people to get to though.

that iron on paper generally fades and looks pretty shitty

It is yes, but the quality is better, iron on paper, like wang said, generally fades, it also cracks, and yeah, it's all to do with quality and application.
