Four Times Jimmy have changed their name.... to Stars Dont Fall. here is a copy of their newsletter i recieved the other day: Well if you haven't already guessed it, we have changed our name. Four Times Jimmy was a band that had only 5 members if one member left it would no longer be Four Times Jimmy, and since Stuart's departure we had been wondering whether to keep the name anyway. After a few weeks we decided it would be the best thing for the band and came up with the name "Stars Dont Fall". It'll take you all a while to get use to it, trust me it took us a while. We have a couple shows large shows coming up. Soon we will have a brand new merch, and a new EP. Our Music has not changed, we will still be playing all your favourite jimmies songs. the website is up now and you can view it thru the old website but by the end of the week it will be www.starsdontfall.com The CD is nearly finished we have backing vocals to do. after that's done I'll see what i can do about getting a track online for you all to listen to. So far it's sounding amazing!. Also on the new website there will not be a guestbook! stars dont fall? boooo. (insert thumbs down symbol here) I was thinking something along the lines of a new style..better music.. growing up...with the new name, but since its gonna be the same 'jimmies classics' the crappy name really suits there crappy style.

wat i dont understand is y the big thing with the name y does it matter so much. if the sex pistols were called camel fucking tranny's we'd all still listen 2 them coz they play FUCKING good music or am i crazy  |

you have a point, but before they became well known the name would have made a difference. Nobody cares now, because everybody knows just how good they are. However, your argument kind of disintergrates there because four times jimmy/stars don't fall are not exactly as well known as the sex pistols...The name can and will make or break a band's success. It's like judging a book by it's cover. Everybody does it.

Bands generally change their name when a member leaves and they take a new direction, or the band is completely made up of new members bar one or two. Having said that, seeing as only one member left the band and they are going to be playing the same shit, I don't see why they had to change the name, other than a) Publicity "Hey have you heard of this new kewl band stars don't fall they so totally rock... I think I need a new hat" (they also lose the bad reputation they have earned round Perth in certain circles). b) They realised how stupid their previous name was, grew up and decided to play decent music. I fear it's probably a case of the first. |

b) They realised how stupid their previous name was, grew up and decided to play decent music. and they kicked it off with a rad new name? haha. They should have all got new heads, faces and bodies, wrote new songs, started playing a better style, became talented, got a cool name, then started over. then and only then would i would like them. |

I guess you might argue that this is the "punkest" thing they have ever done, as they probably realised how much shit they would get for choosing this name, but they did it anyway.
But then I realised that it could also mean that they just want an excuse to sell the same kids new merch.
