whats so wrong about DISLIKING a band because they a) cant play their instruments, b) are arrogant pricks to all of my friends, and c) sound fucking terrible live, and LIKING a band for the complete opposite reasons!? oh oh oh mickey flash are fucking great. Accept it. Move on. |

I dont think mickey flash rock. And your not better than other people if u like old punk rock, it doesnt give u more 'cred' over a kid who likes pop-punk, thats wot it seems to be like on this message board.

Kerb arent my cup of tea either, but they've been around for a long time and have done a lot of good things. Actually, i still have 'No body here but us walruses', if anyone is old enough to remember that.

yeah, havent heard much mickey flash, good on them for doing what they are doing - if they wanna play that sort of music good on em and best of luck to them. i will just say here and now that kerb are, straight out, the best punk band in perth.
As for overproduced pop, as someone claimed, steve is close to the most anti-production person i know. what you hear is what they played. if they dont do it live, its not going on the cd.
and as for the "boring on stage" comment - go and see them live sometime, cos they are anything but boring live.
i appreciate that their style of music may not be some peoples cup of tea, but they are an amazing band.

I don't think there is or ever will be a best punk band, or greatest, wickedest, most cool, however you kids wanna say it, mainly cause no band is going to be able to please every, sure they could be good, or the leaders of their chosen genre, but they'll never be the best. And that's my two cents. |

well well it looks as if no one has made much appreciateness for kerb in the last couple of monthies. i read every single one of the messages on this forum and i'm not concerned about mickey mouse or any other band cos its time to cheer on the kerb boys without a flicker of doubt...you boys had better release your album within the next three weeks or i'm sending my people to deal with you. this is a punk scene website and everyone is concerned about everyone elses opinion...what the? peas out... ;D

You twat, their not concerned about other peoples opinions, they are simply stating their own. Peoples opinions always differ, and they generally believe that their opinion is the superior one.
Are you trying to say that punks shouldn't have opinions or be interested in being different and unique? We shouldn't argue or discuss? Simply conform? We should all be sheep and be into what our mates are into?

punk rock aint about anarchy or having an opinion, its about control. thats why so many fuckers are concerned about what others think cos if they're getting dissed then they have no control or agreeance over that persons opinion. control also goes for drinking and lifestyle in general kiddies i.e. have fun but don't quit your day job/school.
kerb are good at what they do and so are mickey flash and i don't think either of them give a hoot what any one else thinks which makes them better - they know who they are so they've got control over what they want to do rather than being pushed around by the opinions of some kid who has probly never even written a song or performed live.

Nah, I'd disagree, it's not about control, conformity, keeping things in line at all, punk is supposed to be anti authority, rocking the boat, maybe a united fuck off but not control.
You're not there to control others opinions, but enforce your own values.
I think both bands, to an extent, care what other people thing about them, if not they wouldn't play gigs, they would play for themselves in their bedrooms and their music would never see the light of day. You can't say that people (especially in bands) don't care what other people think, or don't care about other peoples opinions, it's crap.
It's funny you said it wasn't about opinions, but kept bringing opinions back into it.
If you're concerned about what others think about you, you're concerned about their opinion of you.
