What do you guys reckon of OI! punk. I reckon it fucking owns. Bands like Cock Sparrer, Cockney Rejects, Blitz, 4Skins. They are fucking great. If anyone has any songs theyd like to suggest because im pretty new to the subgenre.

while in belgium a couple of years back i picked up 'the worldwide tribute to the real oi vol. 2' cd compiled by roger miret (AF) and onno cromag. bands like death threat, the disasters, bouncing souls, murphys law, vision, harley cro mag & friends and ignite covering songs by cocksparrer, the business, last resort, blitz, combat 84, cockney rejects, warzone, peter and the test tube babies and much much more.
great drinking music thats for sure.
theres also vol. 1 out there with bands like dropkick murphys, blood for blood and so on covering old classics. i suggest you pick these up if you can...

Oi Punk Is Indeed Very Good. The 4-Skins Cock Sparrer Cockney Rejects The Exploited etc etc All Quality Bands indeed. The Exploited werent Oi! wang wrangler. Oi! is good, the original 80's stuff is good but kinda repetative, the 'New Breed' i really like has more balls heavier guitars and kinda kiks ass. American Oi! eats dick and Huffs cock, they should stick to HxC . RAC is just as good. One of Australias best (If not THE best) Oi!/RAC bands were from Perth. 'White Noise' Damn good. Sound like Condemned 84 or Combat 84 if anyone knows that sound. |

I don't know if you'd call Vicious oi! but they're damn good, from melbourne too. I don't own much of this sub genre, but i love The Varukers, although i do only own one album, and The Virus are pretty good. |

Vicious are definately from the Gold Coast. I saw them play in Sydney with No Idea and AVO. They fucking OWNED.
Check out the Disables, from Brisbane, along the same lines with a bit more modern Rancid-esque influence.
Cock Sparrer were fucking rad, I've been meaning to track down their first LP (Shock Troops?) for ages.

First night I was in Brisbane (early 2002 it must have been) I went to a party (with a carton of XXXX!) that Dick Nasty were supposed to be playing at. I missed them by 15 minutes.
I also missed Vicious, The Disables, and Gazoonga Attack at the Gabba by about 24 hours. It bums me out to think just how wicked that show must have been.
